EMR / Polypectomy
Endoscopic Mucosal Resection is an endoscopic technique for the removal of sessile or flat neoplasms confined to the mucosa and submucosa layers of the GI tract. Commonly used techniques are injection, cap, and ligation-assisted EMR.
Polypectomy is the endoscopic removal of colorectal polyps. These polyps are the most common precursor to colorectal cancers. A snare can be placed over a polyp to remove it intact or in pieces.
